Now, a little something to go with my fun new inspiration board -- glass bead push pins!
I had been eying those neat glass stone push pins and magnets in cute shops for quite some time and this summer I decided to have a go at making my own. I used some art patterns I had designed last year for a different project. You can use artwork, scrapbook paper, photos or initials. I printed mine out: Cut out little circles. Glued them to the flat side of the glass beads [available at any craft store]:Then I found some flat headed push pins and glued those on, too!Tip: Following several recommendations, I used Diamond Glaze adhesive. It really does work best at hiding the flaws and ridges in the glass.
I also bought some of the bigger glass disks that I haven't used, yet. With those I hope to be able to fit some Bible verses and images from my paintings on! You can also use small photographs, initials - almost anything! And it's the same process for magnets, too.

Fab-u-lous! Love them! Thanks for the tutorial!
I just so love your ideas Jeanne, and can't say enough how much I appreciate you taking the time to tell us about them; let alone tell us how it is done. Thank you so much. I absolutely am excited about this project. It's something even the grandkids can have fun with to make for their mom. And thanks for the tip on the adhesive. I never know what to use any more. ;)
SO pretty! :)
What a lovely and clever project! I have seen glass bean magnets and imagine that it would work just the same only with gluing magnets on instead of pins. I'll store this idea up in my idea bank.
Oh that is so beautiful! I dunno why but I missed this in my dashboard. Maybe because it's so crowded in there. Will you please help me by answering a question for me? Will it be ok for you? I'll ask now and if you wish to answer or not, it's fine. hehehe! Anyway, because of my innocence with art, how can I possibly put letterings on a silk ribbon?
To ~hon~ ,
I cannot say that I've ever tried to apply anything to silk --- perhaps I'm not that refined! :-) But I have on satin ribbon - and used fabric paints successfully. ALWAYS test any project on a sample first ... does it run, smear, bleed, dry evenly, etc. Perhaps the drier stencil paints with alphabet stencils will create a professional look.
Anyone else have a tip for her?
AMAZING. I can't tell you how many of these stinkin glass beads I have that I didn't know what to do with! Now I can decorate my 8x4 bulletin board! THANKS!
Fantastic idea! And they turned out gorgeous.
I'm going to try to make some myself! What a great idea!!
My friend once made me several different kinds of push pins, but none made of glass like these. She made some out of bottle caps. Painted them gold then used puffy paint for my initials. Ingenious! Love it the glass, they will be next on my bulletin board.

I love these. They would be great on magnets as well.
Oh I love this project.. I should have left a comment when I first read it.. but now I am leaving one because you asked me too for the giveaway :)
I love your blog.. :)
Hello,
Could you please tell me how I can order customized push pins?
Thank you!
Hi Courtney! Oh - you are sweet! I do not sell push pins, but they are pretty easy to make. Perhaps an Etsy search will lead you to someone who does something similar?
